Job summary

Substrate Bio Ltd seeks a data engineer/biostatistician to own assay data analysis and the ML platform from capture to results in a hybrid lab setting at King’s Cross, London. You work with protein scientists and software engineers to build scalable, validated pipelines that expose uncertainty clearly.

You will design experiments, perform dose‑response analyses, and ensure reproducible workflows with versioned data, delivering robust, interpretable results for decision making.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Python and its scientific stack, including pandas, NumPy and SciPy, and in working with coding agents.
• SQL and relational schema design for samples, plates and results.
• Turning scientists’ questions into requirements, and writing down the assumptions behind them.

Responsibilities

• Own the analysis of assay data and the data and ML infrastructure from capture to delivered results.
• Build and run production data and ML pipelines on scientific/lab data.
• Ensure data validation, control charts, and QC, with clear uncertainty reporting.
