Job summary

Cancer Research UK is offering a 52-week, fixed-term student placement in Mechanistic Pharmacology at the Babraham Research Campus in Cambridge. The role is lab-based and pays £24,000 per year plus benefits.

You will work under the supervision of the Scientist (Mechanistic Pharmacology) and contribute to drug discovery projects within CRH's Mechanistic Pharmacology team. The placement provides hands-on experience in in‑vitro techniques, data analysis, and reporting, with opportunities to engage

Qualifications

• Undergraduate biology coursework or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication and data interpretation skills.
• Ability to work in a lab-based research environment with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research in an assigned area with efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail under supervision, using established methodology
• Exercise technical judgment in execution of experiments and interpretation of results
• Perform analysis of experimental results and develop hypotheses
• Ask for advice and assistance when necessary
• Maintain awareness of relevant current scientific literature and developments
• Provide verbal and written reports/presentations when required
