Job summary

Cancer Research UK is offering a 52-week student placement in Mechanistic Pharmacology at Babraham Research Campus, Cambridge. The role is lab-based and provides hands-on experience in drug discovery, data analysis, and collaboration with experienced scientists to advance cancer therapeutics.

Successful applicants will perform experiments, maintain records and present findings, with a fixed-term contract and a competitive salary plus benefits.

Qualifications

• Completion of at least one year of an undergraduate course ideally in biological sciences or equivalent experience.
• You must be in your 2nd year of undergraduate study at university.
• You should have 3 A levels (or equivalent) grade B or above (preferably biology).
• You should be able to commence work in September 2027.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory-based research under supervision using established methodologies.
• Exercise technical judgment in experiments and interpretation of results.
• Perform analysis of experimental data and develop hypotheses.
• Maintain laboratory notebooks and data to required standards.
• Provide verbal and written reports/presentations as required.
• Interact with colleagues across CRH and assist where possible.
