Westways Primary School invites applications for an enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our Early Years team and support high quality teaching and learning. The role emphasises inclusion, positive relationships with children, and collaboration with parents and carers.

You will work under the guidance of teachers, using a range of strategies to support emotional regulation and learning goals, and may cover classes across the school when needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Support high quality teaching and learning in the Early Years.
  • Use strategies under the direction of the teacher to help pupils reach learning goals.
  • Supervise and support pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring safety.
  • Be able to cover full classes across the school on ad-hoc occasions.
  • Collaborate with the team and engage with parents and carers to support inclusion.

Job description

The governors at Westways Primary are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Level 3 Teaching Assistant who is looking to join our fantastic school community and work initially as part of our Early Years team. The right candidate will help to support high quality teaching and learning as well as the effective use of resources to bring about improved standards of achievement for all pupils.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Develops and maintains high standards to ensure the welfare of the children at all times

  • Has excellent communication skills

  • Shows initiative and the ability to use judgement and common sense

  • Works flexibly within a supportive and committed team

  • Can form positive and caring relationships with children which motivates them to learn, grow and be confident

  • Are committed to inclusion and working in partnership with our parents and carers

  • Have an understanding and experience of strategies designed to support children with social and emotional and communication and interaction difficulties

  • Is able to demonstrate a range of strategies used to support emotional regulation

  • Supervises and provides particular support for pupils, including those with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities

  • Uses strategies, under the supervision and guidance of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals

  • Is confident in covering full classes across school on an ad-hoc basis

  • Is a good team player who is willing to contribute to the ethos and wider community of the school

  • Has a sense of humour, combined with energy and enthusiasm
