Job summary

The Education Network in Birmingham is seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support Key Stage 3 pupils with Autism and Moderate Learning Difficulties. The role involves providing both 1-2-1 and whole-class support to help students access learning and reach their potential.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SEN staff, implementing tailored strategies to promote academic progress, social development, and emotional wellbeing, in a safe, welcoming environment.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism and MLD.
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to support both academic and social development.
  • Genuine passion for working with young people with SEND.

Responsibilities

  • Providing 1-2-1 support for pupils with Autism and MLD.
  • Supporting teaching and learning across Key Stage 3 classes.
  • Assisting with planning and delivery of engaging lessons.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
  • Working alongside teachers and SEN staff to implement support strategies.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
