Job summary

Abbey Gardens School in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a KS3 Maths & Computing Teacher to join a specialist team. The role focuses on helping students who may face barriers to learning, with smaller class sizes and tailored learning approaches to support progress.

The successful candidate will hold QTS or an equivalent qualification and bring experience teaching Maths and/or Computing, including SEN settings. The position offers a permanent contract for 37.5 hours per week, with term time

  • Experience teaching Maths and/or Computing.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to support EHCP outcomes and individual learning journeys.
  • Experience within SEN, specialist or alternative provision settings, or a genuine desire to develop within this area.
  • Driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and creative KS3 Maths and Computing lessons across KS3.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Teach a range of pathways including Functional Skills, Entry Level and GCSE programmes.
  • Track progress, celebrate achievement and provide targeted support where needed.
  • Build students' confidence, resilience, independence and aspirations for the future.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers to provide outstanding support for every student.

Job Title: KS3 Maths & Computing Teacher

Location: Abbey Gardens School, Bury St Edmunds, IP32 6SA

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am - 4.00pm

Salary: £39,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: January 2027

  • Brings creativity, resilience, patience and a commitment to helping every student succeed.

Abbey Gardens is a brand-new specialist school, part of Acorn Education, supporting young people aged 11-16 with SEMH needs.
