Job summary

Outcomes First Group is seeking a KS3 Maths & Computing Instructor for Abbey Gardens School in Bury St Edmunds. This permanent, term-time role starts January 2027 and offers a Monday–Friday 8:30am–4:00pm schedule with 37.5 hours per week, located at IP32 6SA.

You will deliver Maths and Computing to KS3 students, adapt to EHCP needs, and support progression toward Functional Skills and GCSEs while working with a dedicated team in a nurturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering Maths and/or Computing lessons or tutoring.
  • Qualification or strong subject knowledge in Maths/Computing.
  • Ability to engage students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience in SEN or similar settings.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Maths and Computing lessons across KS3.
  • Adapt learning to meet individual EHCP outcomes.
  • Support students toward Functional Skills, Entry Level and GCSEs.
  • Monitor progress and celebrate achievements with targeted support.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence and life skills.

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am – 4.00pm
Salary: £39,000.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: January 2027

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated KS3 Maths & Computing Instructor to join our specialist team, supporting students who may have faced barriers to learning. You'll play a vital role in helping students rebuild confidence, develop key skills, and achieve positive outcomes in a nurturing and supportive environment.

With small class sizes, personalised learning approaches, and strong support from experienced colleagues, you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact every day.

What you will be doing
  • Deliver engaging Maths and Computing lessons and learning activities across KS3.
  • Adapt learning to meet individual student needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Support students working towards Functional Skills, Entry Level, and GCSE qualifications.
  • Monitor progress, celebrate achievements, and provide targeted learning support.
  • Help students develop confidence, independence, resilience, and life skills.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support positive student outcomes.
What you will bring
  • Experience delivering Maths and/or Computing lessons, training, tutoring, or educational support.
  • A relevant qualification or strong subject knowledge in Maths, Computing, or a related field.
  • The ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs.
  • An understanding of adapting learning to support individual learning journeys and EHCP outcomes.
  • Experience within SEN, specialist education, alternative provision, youth work, coaching, or a similar setting, or a genuine interest in developing within this area.
  • Creativity, patience, resilience, and a commitment to helping every student achieve their potential.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Please note: A formal teaching qualification (QTS) is not essential for this role. Full support and development opportunities will be available for the successful candidate.
