Job summary

Protocol Education are recruiting a KS3 Classroom Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Ferryhill, supporting young people who have faced challenges within mainstream education. This role involves planning and delivering differentiated KS3 lessons, adapting approaches to learners and building positive relationships in a calm, supportive classroom environment.

Competitive daily rates of £140–£250 dependent on experience, with a September 2026 start date and opportunities for ongoing

Protocol Education are currently recruiting for a KS3 Classroom Teacher to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting in Ferryhill, supporting young people who may have experienced challenges within mainstream education.

The Role:

As a KS3 Classroom Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons across KS3.
• Adapt your teaching style and approach to meet individual learning needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
• Create a calm, structured and supportive classroom environment.
• Support pupils with a range of additional needs and barriers to learning.
• Encourage pupils to develop their confidence, independence and engagement.
• Work closely with colleagues to support individual pupils and their educational development.
• Demonstrate resilience, patience and consistency when working with challenging behaviour.
• Have a genuine passion for helping children and young people succeed.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a teacher who:

• Holds QTS.
• Has experience teaching at KS3 level.
• Can confidently plan and deliver effective lessons.
• Is able to adapt teaching styles and resources to suit different learners.
• Has strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Is resilient, patient and consistent.
• Can build positive relationships with young people who may be disengaged from education.
• Is passionate about supporting children and young people to reach their potential.
• Can work effectively as part of a wider team.

Experience within a PRU, SEMH or alternative provision setting would be beneficial, but a strong mainstream teacher with the right attitude and approach will also be considered.
