Job summary

Vision for Education is recruiting a KS2 Teaching Assistant to support a mixed Year 5/6 class in the DL1 area of Darlington. The role starts November 2026 and offers a full-time position with ongoing day-to-day supply opportunities.

You will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and progression, contributing to an inclusive, engaging classroom environment and preparing students for the transition to secondary school.

Qualifications

• Experience in a primary school setting is desirable.
• Experience supporting KS2 pupils, preferably Years 5/6.
• Passion for supporting children's learning and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher in delivering engaging KS2 lessons.
• Assist pupils in a mixed Year 5/6 class with learning tasks.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
• Provide support in literacy, numeracy, reading, writing, spelling and maths.
• Help develop independence, confidence and positive learning habits.
• Adapt activities to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
• Promote positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive classroom.
• Monitor pupil progress and assist with transition to secondary school.
