Vision for Education is recruiting a caring Teaching Assistant for a KS2 pupil in the DL2 Darlington area, providing 1:1 SEN support. You will assist with learning, communication and social development, helping the child access learning in a safe, inclusive environment.

The role requires SEN experience, autism awareness and a patient, adaptable approach. Immediate start preferred, with sickness-cover and ongoing temporary arrangements possible.

Qualificações

• Experience supporting children with SEN.
• 1:1 support experience with primary-aged pupils.
• Experience with autistic children or similar needs is advantageous.
• Good understanding of autism, communication differences, sensory needs and emotional regulation.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
• Ability to build trusting relationships and provide consistent support.
• Availability to work full-time and start immediately.

Responsabilidades

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil throughout the school day.
• Support the child's learning, engagement and participation in classroom activities.
• Adapt learning activities and resources to meet the child's individual needs.
• Support communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.
• Use consistent, positive and supportive strategies to encourage engagement and manage challenging situations.
• Help the child navigate classroom routines, transitions and changes to the school day.
• Recognise and respond to the child's individual triggers, needs and behaviours.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team to support progress.
• Encourage positive relationships with peers and promote inclusion.
• Maintain a calm, patient and reassuring approach, particularly when the child becomes overwhelmed.
• Follow safeguarding policies and any individual support plans.
• Provide feedback to the class teacher regarding progress and wellbeing.
