Job summary

Sparken Hill Academy is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant (Grade 3) to join our KS2 team. The role supports pupils’ learning, wellbeing and progress under the direction of class teachers, with duties across literacy, numeracy, and SEND interventions.

The post is based in KS2 and may require support in other departments as needed. Applicants should be flexible, collaborative, and committed to safeguarding children.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and maths (grade 4/C or above)
• Experience working with children in a school or similar setting (paid or voluntary)
• Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers
• Patience, resilience and a good sense of humour
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children
• Desirable: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification and SEND/intervention experience

Responsibilities

• Support individuals and small groups in class, helping pupils access the curriculum and build independence
• Deliver learning activities and interventions planned by the teacher, especially in literacy and numeracy
• Support pupils with additional needs, following agreed plans and strategies
• Help create a safe, positive and well‑organised learning environment
• Promote good behaviour and positive relationships in line with the academy’s policies
• Prepare and tidy resources, support displays and observe feedback on pupils’ progress
