Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to support a reputable Birmingham school from September 2026. This full-time role is based in Handsworth, B21 and offers the chance to contribute to pupil progress.

You will support Years 3–6, including SEND pupils, foster a positive classroom atmosphere, and report progress as needed. An Enhanced DBS (update service) and willingness to train are required. Salary will be determined per the client's pay policy.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS (must be on the update service).
• Relevant qualifications or experience.
• Willingness to complete relevant training continually when needed.
• Confidence and flexibility in working with Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 & Year 6.

Responsibilities

• Not only supporting pupils educational development but also managing and supporting the classroom alongside the designated teacher
• Creating a positive and engaging atmosphere in the classroom
• Providing tailored assistance for SEND pupils
• Monitoring students and reporting to designated teacher when needed
• De-escalating behavioural conflicts and recognising good behaviour in accordance with the schools policies
