Job summary

Lime Wood Primary School in Erith is seeking a dedicated SEND support assistant to work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and speech, language, and communication needs. You will deliver tailored 1:1 and small-group support in both the Inclusion base and mainstream classrooms.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or above in supporting teaching and learning in schools is required.
• Experience working with children with SEND, ideally ASD or SLCN.
• Knowledge of sensory integration strategies and early communication support.
• Willingness to train in specialist approaches (e.g. TEACCH, PECS, Zones of Regulation).
• Commitment to inclusive education and belief in every child’s potential.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualised support within EHCP outcomes.
• Support pupils with communication, sensory regulation and social interaction.
• Collaborate with Lead Teacher, therapists and families.
• Assist with assessments, observations and learning journals.
• Maintain a calm, safe and predictable learning environment.
• Encourage independence and personal development.
• Use visual supports and communication aids (PECS, Makaton).
• Contribute to reviews and planning meetings for pupils.
• Promote inclusion and transitions into the wider school community.
