Are you passionate about helping children succeed in the key years of their primary education? Do you enjoy working one-on-one and in small groups to boost learning and confidence in Maths, English, and beyond? If so, this is a role where you can make a real impact every single day.

About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is proud to be working with a dynamic and supportive school in Newport, looking to appoint a dedicated Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to support pupils across Years 3–6. In this role, you’ll work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and provide tailored support in core subjects—particularly literacy and numeracy.

Whether you're supporting a Year 6 pupil preparing for SATs or helping a Year 4 child build their confidence in reading, your support will be key to unlocking potential and building lasting learning foundations.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Delivering small-group and 1:1 interventions in Maths, Reading, Writing, and SPaG
Supporting pupils who may be falling behind, boosting both academic skills and self-esteem
Working alongside class teachers to adapt and scaffold lessons for learners with varying needs
Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teaching staff
Supporting children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including those with ADHD, dyslexia, or SEMH challenges
Encouraging positive learning behaviours, resilience, and independence in the classroom
Assisting with general classroom duties and creating a focused, supportive learning environment

We’re Looking for Someone Who:
Has experience working in KS2 or a strong understanding of the primary curriculum
Is confident delivering academic support in English and Maths, ideally up to Year 6 level
Has a patient, calm, and supportive approach to helping children overcome learning barriers
Can build strong working relationships with pupils and staff
Is proactive, flexible, and eager to make a difference every day
Experience with ALN/SEN support is a bonus, but full training is provided

Requirements:
EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration
A valid child-only DBS registered on the Update Service
Two professional references from the last 24 months

Why This Role Matters:
KS2 is a critical stage for consolidating learning and preparing for the transition to secondary school. As a Teaching Assistant focused on intervention and support, your guidance will help pupils not only close gaps in learning, but also build the confidence and independence they’ll carry forward for years to come.

Why Join This School?
A friendly and forward-thinking teaching team
Focus on inclusion, personal development, and high expectations
Opportunity to gain experience in a well-respected school setting
Ongoing support and professional development from Teaching Personnel
