Job summary

St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Bristol is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role covers Key Stage 2, with term-time hours plus five inset days, working from 8:45 am to 3:30 pm, 31.25 hours per week, on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will support pupils’ learning, help access the full curriculum, assist with phonics (Read Write Inc), and contribute to planning and assessment under the direction of the class teacher.

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary age children, including KS2.
• Knowledge of national curriculum and assessment processes.
• Phonics knowledge or willingness to be trained in Read Write Inc (RWI).
• Ability to support learning across a range of activities and plan with teachers.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils to access the full curriculum while promoting independent learning.
• Observe, record and report pupil progress and engagement to the class teacher.
• Help maintain pupil records and contribute to planning and evaluation of activities.
• Create a calm, engaging learning environment inside and outside the classroom.
• Communicate effectively with pupils, parents and staff to support progress.
