Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is hiring a General Classroom Teaching Assistant (KS1) in Penwortham for a full-time, long-term placement starting November 2026.

You will provide classroom-based support to pupils and teachers across the KS1 curriculum, helping with phonics, reading, writing, and early maths development. The role requires previous classroom experience, a positive and proactive attitude, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in a classroom setting is essential.
• TA qualification Level 2 or 3 is desirable but not essential.
• Solid understanding of KS1 curriculum and child development.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Positive, proactive and flexible approach to supporting learning.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with engaging KS1 lessons.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist with phonics, reading, writing and early maths development.
• Promote positive behaviour and pupil participation.
• Help create a safe, inclusive classroom environment.
• Contribute to pupil progress through effective classroom support.
