Job summary

Step Teachers is recruiting for a KS1 Teaching Assistant in London. The role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with November/December start. It offers a long-term temp-to-perm pathway in a thriving primary school with nursery provision.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of school experience, strong communication skills and a patient, adaptable approach. Safeguarding and positive pupil development are central to the role.

Qualifications

• A minimum of one year's experience working within a school setting is essential.
• Experience supporting children within Key Stage 1 is highly desirable.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is beneficial but not essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
• Positive, patient and adaptable approach for building relationships with pupils and staff.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across Key Stage 1 within the classroom.
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom activities.
• Support literacy, numeracy and phonics development.
• Encourage positive behaviour and engagement in learning.

Duties as KS1 Teaching Assistant:
