St Mary's Hare Park School is a Catholic Independent School found in Havering within easy reach of London.

The school was founded in 1961 and is a successful and highly respected Catholic school with a strong history of excellent academic results. Children go onto a variety of grammar and independent schools in the southeast region. They are educated within a strong Catholic ethos although the school has a number of pupils from a variety of other ethnic and religious backgrounds. The rich curriculum on offer promotes learning which enables children to fulfil their full potential in a warm and inspiring environment where the arts, sports and languages are also promoted at all ages.

The school is looking to appoint an outstanding KS1 Primary Teacher. You will have the drive, high standard and passion to enthuse their pupils and make a real difference to their outcomes and life chances. This is a truly exciting opportunity for an existing or aspiring Primary Teacher.

You will be able to plan and deliver stimulating and challenging lessons whilst setting appropriate and challenging work for all abilities. The school is looking for someone who is committed and ambitious for their own professional development.

The ideal candidate will have a background in SEND (but this is not a requirement). We are looking for someone who is qualified to lead our SEND provision and fulfil responsibilities in the role of SENDCO. We have a relatively small level of pupils registered as SEND across the school and already a small team of SEND assistants who support pupils. The role of SENCO will be predominantly one of overseeing the administration side of SEND with time provided for working alongside staff and pupils to support good practice.

About the teaching role:

  • Plan and deliver consistently good (or better) lessons
  • Carry out teaching duties, as required, in accordance with the schemes of work and the National Curriculum.
  • Identify clear teaching objectives and specify how they will be taught and assessed.
  • Set tasks which challenge pupils and ensure high level of interest.
  • Set appropriate and demanding expectations.
  • Set clear targets building on prior attainment.
  • Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
  • Make effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of the programmes of study.
  • Ensure effective teaching and the best use of available time.
  • Monitor and intervene to ensure excellent learning and discipline.
  • Provide pastoral support to ensure development of the whole pupil

We need a teacher who:

  • Has high expectations
  • Enjoys being creative and independent
  • Is confident in the use of ICT within their role and teaching
  • Works well in a team
  • Has a good understanding of a value rich curriculum and a value based approach to education.

Key Responsibilities – SENDCO

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the school’s SEND policy and provision.
  • Maintain and update SEND records and ensure statutory documentation is accurate and timely.
  • Coordinate provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure appropriate support and intervention.
  • Monitor and track progress of SEND pupils across the school.
  • Support staff in identifying and implementing effective strategies for SEND learners.
  • Ensure compliance with current SEND legislation and best practice guidance
