Job summary

Supply Desk in Slough is seeking a passionate KS1 Teacher for a part-time role (3 days per week) starting September 2026. You will deliver engaging KS1 lessons, focusing on phonics and early reading, while supporting pupil development across Year 1 and/or Year 2.

You will work in a welcoming primary school, promote safeguarding, and collaborate with staff to create a nurturing learning environment. DBS update or willingness to obtain is required.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the KS1 National Curriculum, including phonics and early reading.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Commitment to raising attainment and meeting the needs of every pupil.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Current enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and inclusive lessons for KS1.
  • Teach Year 1 and/or Year 2, supporting academic, social and emotional development.
  • Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.
  • Deliver high-quality phonics, literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress using data to inform planning.
  • Differentiate lessons to support pupils of all abilities including SEND and EAL.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage confident, independent learners.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, teaching assistants, parents and the school community.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies are followed at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and inclusive lessons in line with the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1.
  • Teach pupils across Year 1 and/or Year 2, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development.

  • Deliver high-quality phonics, literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Assess, monitor, and record pupils' progress, using assessment data to inform planning and provide targeted support where needed.
  • Differentiate lessons to support pupils of all abilities, including those with SEND, EAL, and higher-attaining learners.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupils to become confident, independent, and resilient learners.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, parents, and the wider school community to support pupil achievement and wellbeing.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
