Job summary

Burhill Group Limited (BGL) is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support Abbey Hill Golf Centre. The role involves dishwashing, kitchen cleaning and basic food prep to ensure smooth service during operation hours.

You will follow all policies, complete daily cleaning tasks and assist chefs with food preparation while upholding hygiene and COSHH standards. Training will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Follows all company policies and procedures, e.g., attendance, timekeeping, dress code, name badge, appearance.
• Complete daily cleaning rota tasks.
• Basic preparation of food, including peeling and cutting of vegetables and basic duties.
• Operate the dishwasher and maintain cleanliness; report faults promptly.
• Clean crockery and cutlery; store safely to prevent breakage.
• Clean and safely store cooking pots and equipment, including refrigerated areas.
• Carry out heavy duty kitchen cleaning per schedule and supervisor instructions.
• Operate equipment safely to maintain efficiency and lifespan.
• Assist chefs with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks.
• Attend training on kitchen operations, hygiene, safety and COSHH; request extra training if needed.
• Be aware of emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Comply with BGL policies and health and safety procedures.
• Undertake any further duties as requested by management.

Responsibilities

• Operate the dishwasher machine and maintain the standard of cleanliness for an efficient operation and report any faults/breakdowns.
• Ensure that crockery & cutlery are cleaned, maintained to the highest standard of cleanliness and safely stored to prevent unnecessary breakage.
• Cleaning and safe storage of all cooking pots and food preparation equipment and refrigerated areas.
• Carry out heavy duty cleaning of equipment in the kitchen to the standards specified in the cleaning schedule and as directed by the Head Chef or Duty Chef.
• Operate and use any equipment in a satisfactory and safe operating manner to maintain efficiency of the equipment and useful working life. As laid down in the standards operating manual and manufacturer’s handbook.
• Assisting food service assistants and Chefs with heavy lifting and manual handling tasks.
• Attend relevant training courses to ensure that you are conversant with all the workings of the kitchen, systems codes or practice especially with regards to Hygiene, Safety and COSHH regulations when using chemicals. Ask for further training if you feel inadequately prepared.
• To be aware of all relevant emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Complies with BGL personnel policies and procedures and health and safety procedures
• To undertake any further duties as requested by the management.
