Job description

Heath House Kitchen is a new restaurant which launched on 20th May 2021. All food is freshly prepared and cooked onsite using a wide range of ingredients. The restaurant is relaxed and family-friendly, placing a huge emphasis on providing our customers with a warm welcome and a high level of friendly and caring customer service.

Purpose of Position

Your primary role is to perform washing-up and cleaning duties required within the kitchen, ensuring clean dishes, glasses, and equipment are available when required. The role also involves maintaining very high standards of hygiene and includes emptying rubbish bins, sweeping, mopping floors, scrubbing down kitchen surfaces, cleaning fridges, and food prep areas.

As your experience grows, you will be required to assist with preparation of ingredients such as peeling potatoes, chopping vegetables, and preparing salad items. Experienced kitchen assistants will be trained to plate main course and dessert dishes.

We are a small team here at Heath House Kitchen/Training and Conference Centre, and teamwork is important. While we all have our own specific duties related to our skills and expertise, it is essential that we all ‘muck-in’ and undertake the general duties that we can all do.

Level

Responsibilities and Skills or Requirements

The role includes but is not limited to:

1. Washing dishes, cutlery, glasses, pans, and equipment
2. Deep cleaning the kitchen, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing surfaces, cleaning fridges, and cookers
3. Peeling, chopping, washing, and preparing vegetables and similar ingredients

Organising crockery, equipment, and food correctly with particular attention to hygiene and food safety. Reliable, hard-working, honest, with the ability to work under pressure and as part of a team. Good communication skills, the ability to learn and apply information, and a positive attitude towards work are essential.
