Job summary

The Bull Hotel in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, is seeking a Kitchen Porter to maintain cleanliness in the kitchen and support Health & Safety compliance. This is an hourly paid casual role with shifts that typically run 6.30am–3.00pm or 3.00pm–11.30pm, including weekends and bank holidays.

You will join our Kitchen and Food & Beverage teams to help deliver excellent guest service. The post requires previous experience in a hotel or kitchen, good physical fitness, and a pro-active, flexible

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hotel, hospital or kitchen environment.
  • Must have physical ability to move goods and stand for long periods.
  • Pro-active, can-do attitude with strong team communication.
  • Excellent teamwork and customer service abilities.
  • Willing to work rota across seven days, mornings and evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high cleanliness in the kitchen to meet Health & Safety standards.
  • Prepare crockery and cutlery in wash-up areas and clear backlog.
  • Carry out routine cleaning per schedule.
  • Assist with moving food deliveries and waste disposal per regs.
  • Follow PPE guidelines and report faults to Head Chef.

A peaceful four star hotel in Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire, the Bull Hotel offers 147 comfortable bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, and flexible event suites for all types of functions. Opened in 1688 as a coaching inn, the picturesque hotel combines warm British hospitality with modern comforts. Located in the countryside. The Bull is easily accessible by train or car.

We are looking for a Kitchen Porter who can maintain a high level of cleanliness in our Kitchen in order to help maintain compliance with Health & Safety legislation. This is an hourly paid casual role and shifts are available according to business needs.

Our Kitchen and Food and Beverage Teams work together to deliver the best for our guests and as a Kitchen Porter you will be vital to this team.

We are looking for someone to join us on a casual basis and the shifts offered will vary depending on business demands however the hours of work are usually either 6.30am to 3.00pm or 3pm to 11.30pm including weekends/Bank holidays

As a kitchen porter you will have...
  • Previous experience working in a similar role in a hotel, hospital or kitchen area
  • The physical ability to move goods around the hotel or hotel as well as stand for long periods of time
  • A pro-active and can-do attitude.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent team working skills.
  • Flexibility to work on a rota basis across seven days, mornings and evenings as required.
What will I be doing as a kitchen porter?
  • Maintaining high levels of cleanliness in the Kitchen in order to maintain compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
  • Preparing crockery, cutlery and other goods in the wash-up areas minimising any backlog.
  • Carrying out routine cleaning in line with the cleaning schedule.
  • Assisting with the carrying and moving of food deliveries as requested
  • Emptying bins and managing the disposal of wastage in the kitchen in line with Health & Safety and Food Safety Regulations
  • Following the Company's guidelines for the handling of chemicals and ensuring that the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn.
  • Reporting all faults in equipment or plant to the Head Chef/Senior Sous Chef and to report any breakages.
