Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Kitchen Porter at Sevenoaks School to help keep kitchens clean, support chefs, and ensure equipment and workspaces are ready for service. You’ll be part of a team that values care, teamwork, and a positive dining experience for students and staff every day.

Rate of pay is £13.09 per hour with 40 hours per week, 5 days across 7. Free parking, uniform and meals on shift are provided. A supportive environment and opportunities to grow within Sodexo are offered.

Qualifications

  • Food safety level 2 required.
  • Complete mandatory online training within 3 months of employment.
  • Experience in a similar service role preferred.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to standards.
  • Flexible attitude to working hours and positive mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Wash and sanitise crockery, utensils and equipment.
  • Unload deliveries and store items using FIFO.
  • Assist with basic food preparation.
  • Keep kitchen areas clean and compliant with health and safety.
  • Deep clean fridges and storerooms to maintain hygiene.
  • Report maintenance issues and near misses.
  • Follow allergen procedures and Leanpath records.
  • Support chefs and promote good customer service.

Join Sodexo as a Kitchen Porter at Sevenoaks Schooland play a key role behind the scenes by maintaining cleanliness, supporting the chefs, and ensuring equipment and workspaces are ready for service.You’ll be part of a supportive team that values care, teamwork, and creating a positive dining experience for students and staff every day.

What You’ll Do:
  • Wash and sanitise all crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, equipment, and food service items, ensuring they are clean and ready for use.
  • Unloading and putting away deliveries
  • Basic food preparation
  • Ensure that all goods are correctly stored away on a “first in first out” basis and comply with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Emptying bins, sweeping and mopping floors internal & external
  • Ensuring all equipment is clean and put away correctly
  • Deep cleaning fridges and storerooms to maintain sanitary and kitchen safety standards.
  • Comply with statutory and company requirements.
  • Ensure total compliance with all allergen processes.
  • Assist with the hygienic cleaning of kitchen to comply with all Health and Safety regulations.
  • Assist with the implementation of cleaning schedules to agreed standards.
  • Promote a friendly working relationship with colleagues.
  • Promote a good company image to customers and guests by using positive customer service practices.
  • Delivering a positive and proactive attitude towards colleagues and visitors, and challenge others with non-positive attitudes
  • To undertake occasional duties outside the normal routine but within the scope of the position and the department’s activities
  • Record all food waste correctly using Leanpath.
  • To bring to the attention of the Senior Chef Team and deal with maintenance issues so that maintenance dockets can be issued, thereby ensuring that the Kitchen fabric and equipment is kept in a safe, cleanable, and fully functional condition.
  • To ensure all near misses and accidents are reported while on shift.
  • To report any incident of accident, fire, theft, loss or damage and take action as may be appropriate.
  • To attend meetings and courses, as required and be Proactive approach to job role
What You Bring:
  • Food safety & health & safety level 2
  • Completion of mandatory online training within 3 months of employment.
  • Demonstrate experience of working in a similar role within the service industry at a comparable level in a company
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards.
  • Analyse problems analytically, develop opportunities and implement innovative solutions.
  • To demonstrate a flexible attitude to working hours and promote a positive mental outlook to all aspects of work.
  • Be always respectful of others.
  • The desire and tenacity to adhere to procedures.
  • Basic Food Hygiene and Health and Safety Certificates
  • Good admin, completion of required kitchen paperwork.
  • Flexible approach to the role and be self-motivated.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with customers, clients and staff
