Job summary

Sodexo Group in Slough is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter to support the busy kitchen team. A key focus is maintaining a clean and safe working environment while assisting chefs during service.

The role is part-time at 26 hours per week, with shifts 9:00am–3:30pm, and a rate of £12.71 per hour plus our Sodexo employee benefits package and opportunities for career development.

Qualifications

  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards.
  • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support the kitchen team.

Responsibilities

  • Washing and sanitising dishes, pots, pans, utensils and kitchen equipment.
  • Keeping kitchen areas, floors, work surfaces and storage areas clean and organised.
  • Supporting chefs with basic food preparation when required.
  • Managing rubbish and food waste correctly.
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment.
  • Assisting with deliveries, including moving and storing supplies.
  • Keeping fridges, freezers and dry-storage areas clean and organised.
  • Replenishing cleaning materials and kitchen supplies.
  • Following food hygiene, health and safety and COSHH procedures.
  • Supporting the kitchen team during busy service periods.
  • Reporting any equipment, maintenance or health and safety issues to the manager.
  • Carrying out other reasonable duties as required by the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our busy kitchen team.

As a Kitchen Porter, you will play an important role in supporting the chefs and wider kitchen team, helping to maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.

What you'll do:

What you'll bring:

  • Previous kitchen, catering, cleaning or hospitality experience is desirable but not essential
  • Good understanding of kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards
  • Comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to follow instructions and work independently when required
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support the wider kitchen team
