Job summary

Sodexo at Sevenoaks School is seeking a General Catering Assistant. The role involves assisting in the presentation and serving of food to high standards, maintaining hygiene, and supporting the kitchen and service counters. You will work 34 hours per week (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat, 8am–4pm) with term-time, equated pay over 12 months.

DBS clearance is required. Training is provided, and you will contribute to a friendly team environment at Sevenoaks School.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food to standard; know allergen information.
• Maintain clean, safe dining and kitchen areas.
• Clean equipment, walls, floors, and fixtures per rota.
• Assist in loading counters and ensuring supplies during service.
• Occasionally assist at special functions or cover other units.
• Replenish displays and support deliveries and stock.
• Follow food hygiene and safety procedures.
• Provide friendly, helpful service to customers and colleagues.

Equated pay

(sometimes known as spread-over pay) is a method of paying you for your contracted hours, working weeks, and holiday pay spread over 12 months instead of just receiving pay during the months that you work and none during the school closures/non-working weeks. This means that you get paid equal amounts every month. Further information will be supplied at the interview stage.

As a General Catering Assistant for Sodexo at

Sevenoaks School, Sevenoaks, TN13 1HU, you will assist in the presentation of food services, maintaining a high standard of service and hygiene. To clear and clean working areas, including equipment and utensils.

What You Do:

• Assist with the preparation and serving of food to the company’s standards, utilising recipes from the central system and to have full knowledge of all allergen information prior to service.
• Maintain clean, safe and hygienic kitchen and dining areas
• Undertake all aspects in the cleaning of equipment – walls (up to 6ft), floors, fixtures and fittings, to the companies’ standard according to the cleaning rota as required and directed.
• Assist in loading service counters, as and when directed, and to ensure sufficient supplies throughout the service period, paying particular attention to the minimum style guide standards and implementation of all current marketing offers and promotions.
• Assist, from time to time, at special functions, some of which may occasionally occur outside working hours.
• Relieve in other local units from time to time during sickness
• Replenish food displays and service counters as required
• Support deliveries and store supplies appropriately
• Follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures
• Provide a friendly and helpful service to customers, colleagues or visitors

• Previous catering or food service experience is helpful but not essential, as full training will be provided
