Job summary

Philema Hospitality Management Enterprise in Newquay is seeking a kitchen assistant to support production areas and ensure smooth operations in a busy four star hotel.

You will wash dishes, help with basic food preparation, and keep kitchen environments clean and compliant with HACCP. You’ll also assist other hotel areas and maintain strong communication across departments.

Qualifications

• Experience in hospitality kitchen environments preferred.
• Ability to follow HACCP regulations and safety procedures.
• Strong team player with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist in smooth kitchen operations and production areas.
• Wash dishes manually and in dishwasher.
• Assist in basic food preparation when needed.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen surfaces and floors.
• Store crockery, cutlery and glassware properly.
• Report faulty equipment and help organise repairs.
• Support other hotel areas as required and maintain inter-department communication.
• Adhere to Fire Procedures, Health and Safety, COSHH and Emergency Aid.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Assisting with the smooth running of the kitchen production areas.
• Washing dishes manually and also by using the dishwasher.
• Assisting in basic food preparation if needed
• Cleaning pots, pans and any other kitchen utensils.
• Maintain the kitchen work areas in accordance with HACCP regulations.
• Storing away all crockery, cutlery and glassware.
• Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor.
• Emptying bins when they are full.
• Reporting any fault equipment to the kitchen manager or chef and then arranging for their repair.
• Keeping breakages down to a minimum.
• Complying with the daily cleaning rotas.
• Taking all dirty linen and cloths from the kitchen to the hotel laundry.
• Assisting in other areas of the hotel when required to.
• To ensure good working relationship with all other departments and communicate information throughout the hotel.
• To understand responsibilities in relation to Fire Procedures, Health and Safety, COSHH, Infection Control and Emergency Aid.
• All other duties as required
