Berkeley Scott is recruiting a Kitchen Porter to join a dedicated on-site catering team in Newcastle upon Tyne, offering immediate starts and ongoing, regular shifts. This temporary position provides weekly pay and flexible shift patterns to accommodate your availability, with the security of working consistently at one established client location.

Daily duties include supporting chefs during service, assisting with basic food preparation, operating dishwashers, and maintaining rigorous cleanliness standards throughout the kitchen.

You will receive full support from the Berkeley Scott team while working alongside professional catering staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting chefs and kitchen staff during busy service periods


• Assisting with basic food preparation and general kitchen duties


• Operating dishwashers and cleaning kitchen equipment


• Washing up and maintaining high standards of cleanliness


• Keeping kitchen areas clean, organised and hygienic


• Assisting with kitchen close-down procedures


• Following instructions from the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager


• Complying with all food hygiene and health and safety procedures

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

• Reliable, punctual and hardworking


• Comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment


• Able to work effectively as part of a team


• Well organised with good communication skills


• Committed to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene


• Experienced in a kitchen or catering environment


• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter, Kitchen Assistant, Catering Assistant or Chef Assistant is highly desirable.

An Enhanced DBS certificate is desirable but not essential.

A Food Safety Certificate is also beneficial, although training may be available for the right candidate.
