Job summary

Sodexo Live! is hiring a Kitchen Assistant at Manchester Airport Terminal 1 to support the kitchen team with hygiene, cleaning, waste handling and equipment care in a fast-paced airport environment.

The role requires strong communication, basic food hygiene, reliability and flexibility to work early and late shifts. Airport lounge experience is a bonus; the role offers possible permanent progression after references.

Qualifications

• Strong communication, essential for team coordination and guest interaction.
• Basic food hygiene knowledge to support safe kitchen operations.
• Highly motivated and reliable to perform duties with care.
• Attention to detail to maintain cleanliness and standards.
• Airport Lounge experience is a plus for adapting to airport requirements.
• Flexibility to work early and late shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• To ensure hygiene, safety, and cleanliness regulations are followed.
• To clean heavy catering equipment using proper instructions and materials.
• To manage waste and disposal according to regulations.
• To operate industrial dishwashers and glasswashers in catering areas.
• To transport provisions and catering items as required.
• To maintain a clean working environment with emphasis on hygiene.
• General kitchen cleanliness including deep cleans.

What you'll do

• To ensure that the Company's and statutory regulations regarding hygiene, safety, and cleanliness are complied with and all tasks undertaken according to Safeguard regulations.
• To clean allocated pieces of heavy catering equipment using instructions and cleaning materials including air filter and extraction systems.
• Empty bins and ensure waste is separated as per the regulations
• To dispose of waste materials from catering areas to designated compactors
• To operate industrial dishwashers and glasswashers in all catering areas.
• To transport provisions, equipment and other catering related items as required.
• To maintain clean working environment at all times, with special regard to hygiene
• General Kitchen cleanliness, including deep cleans
