Job summary

University of Bristol Source Catering is hiring a part-time kitchen porter to support the kitchen and front of house in food preparation and service for students and staff. The role focuses on maintaining a clean wash-up area and assisting with basic food handling and service.

The position is term-time, 25 hours per week across 34 weeks, with breaks including Christmas, Easter and summer holidays. Training in basic food hygiene is provided with a mandatory course within six months.

Qualifications

• No specific qualifications required; on-the-job training will be provided
• Basic food hygiene course to be completed within six months
• Good literacy and numeracy

Responsibilities

• Maintain an organised and clean wash-up cycle for crockery, cutlery, pans and other goods, ensuring the kitchen is clean and tidy
• Operate and clean kitchen equipment
• Keep the stores area clean and assist with receiving and checking goods inwards, including cleaning and waste collection of external areas
• Assist under supervision with simple food preparation and service of food

University of Bristol Source Catering have an opportunity to join their team as a kitchen porter, assisting the kitchen team and front of house in the preparation and service of food to our students and university staff and provide an efficient clean and well-organised kitchen and wash up area.

This is a part-time, term time contract of 25 hours per week, 34 weeks of the year, giving you 4-weeks off over the Christmas period, 3-weeks off at Easter and 12-weeks off over the summer.

What will you be doing?

Maintaininganorganised and clean wash up cycle ofcrockery, cutlery,pansand other goods ensuring the kitchen is kept clean and tidy.Operating and cleaning of kitchen equipment.Keeping the stores area clean andassistingwithreceiving and checking goods inwards this will include cleaning and waste collation of external areas.Assistingunder supervision with simple food preparationand service of food.
