Job Details

Title: Kitchen Manager

Location: Paignton TQ4

Salary: £27,711 - £32,654 (full-time equivalent, pro rata depending on experience)

Hours: 35 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time + 1 week)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Kitchen Manager to lead our school catering team. Responsibilities include preparing and serving healthy, high-quality meals for pupils, managing daily kitchen operations, and ensuring compliance with food hygiene and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals.
  2. Plan menus and order food and supplies in line with budget and school policies.
  3. Manage kitchen staff, including training, rotas, and performance evaluations.
  4. Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and cleanliness.
  5. Keep accurate records of stock, cash handling, and kitchen operations.
  6. Collaborate with the School Business Manager and Headteacher to ensure smooth catering service operations.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience managing a kitchen or catering operation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations (Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate preferred).
  • Organised, reliable, and able to work under pressure.
