Job summary

Finkley Hudson's Field Nursery in Salisbury is seeking a Kitchen Catering Assistant to support the nursery team and keep operations running smoothly. You will serve meals, help with cleaning and meal area setup, and assist with housekeeping across the nursery.

The role emphasises teamwork, reliability, and a proactive approach in a busy setting, with benefits including training opportunities, holiday entitlement, and staff discounts.

Responsibilities

• Kitchen Support: Serve meals and snacks to children; Prepare and organise meal areas; Clear, clean and reset after meals; Follow food hygiene and safety procedures.
• Housekeeping & Environment: Maintain high cleanliness standards across the nursery; Clean and tidy rooms, communal areas and kitchen spaces; Support laundry, dishwashing and general upkeep; Create a clean, safe and welcoming environment.
• Supporting the Nursery Team: Help staff during busy periods (mealtimes); Support routines and transitions; Work with the team to keep the day running smoothly.
• Health & Safety: Follow all health & safety and hygiene procedures; Support infection control and cleaning routines; Report issues to management.

This role is all about supporting, serving, and keeping things running smoothly.

You’ll be responsible for:

Kitchen Support

• Serve meals and snacks to children


• Prepare and organise meal areas


• Support with clearing, cleaning, and resetting after mealtimes


• Always follow food hygiene and safety procedures

Housekeeping & Environment

• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across the nursery


• Clean and tidy rooms, communal areas, and kitchen spaces


• Support laundry, dishwashing, and general upkeep


• Help create a clean, safe, and welcoming environment

Supporting the Nursery Team

• Help staff during busy periods (especially mealtimes)
