Job summary

N Family Club in London is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support our nursery kitchen team. You will help prepare healthy meals and snacks for children, wash, chop and portion ingredients, and maintain a clean, safe kitchen environment.

This role supports mealtimes across the nursery and requires adherence to food hygiene and safety procedures. The role is permanent, part-time with hours 09:00–17:00, Monday to Friday, based in Wandsworth.

Qualifications

• Experience working in a kitchen or food prep environment (nursery/education setting a bonus)
• Level 1 Food Hygiene preferred
• Reliable, can-do attitude with attention to detail
• Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions
• Love for healthy food and supporting children’s wellbeing
• Willingness to complete relevant training as needed

Responsibilities

• Help the Chef prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks
• Wash, peel, chop and portion ingredients
• Keep the kitchen and equipment clean, safe and hygienic
• Wash dishes and utensils throughout the day
• Receive and store food deliveries safely
• Assist with stock checks and food rotation
• Adhere to dietary requirements and allergies
• Set up and clear away mealtimes around the nursery
• Follow all food hygiene and health & safety procedures

As a Kitchen Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in helping our nursery Chef deliver delicious, nutritious meals to fuel the day’s learning and play. You’ll be the backbone of the kitchen, supporting meal prep, keeping everything sparkling clean, and making sure mealtimes run smoothly and safely for the children and team.

What you’ll be doing…

• Supporting the Chef in preparing healthy, balanced meals and snacks
• Washing, peeling, chopping and portioning ingredients
• Keeping the kitchen and equipment clean, safe, and hygienic
• Washing dishes and utensils throughout the day
• Receiving and storing food deliveries safely and efficiently
• Supporting with stock checks and food rotation
• Assisting in ensuring dietary requirements and allergies are adhered to
• Helping with mealtime set-up and clean-up around the nursery

Our Kitchen Assistants should have…

• Experience working in a kitchen or food prep environment (nursery/education setting a bonus!)
• A good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards (Level 1 Food Hygiene preferred)
• A reliable, can-do attitude with attention to detail
• Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions
