Job summary

University of York is seeking a Kitchen Team Member to support our catering outlets on campus. You will prepare and cook light snacks and plated meals according to menu guidelines, whilst upholding food safety and hygiene standards. Full training will be provided and you will work as part of a supportive team.

The role offers 37 hours per week across a 5 days over 7 schedule with occasional weekend work. Salary is £26,604.92 per annum and the university provides a rewards package and uniform.

Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Kitchen Team Member to join us at one of the country’s leading universities. You will work within one of our catering outlets at the University of York, helping to maintain the high standards of catering, hygiene, and health & safety that we currently achieve.

You will prepare and cook light snacks and plated meals in accordance with menu guidelines. You should have an interest in the hospitality sector and food preparation, full training will be provided.

The salary is £26,604.92 per annum (£13.79 /hr)

The hours of work are 37 hours per week on a 5 days over 7 basis. You won’t be required to work split shifts. Shifts will usually fall within a Monday to Friday structure although occasional weekend work may be required. Flexibility is essential to ensure the kitchens can meet the demands of the business.
