Job summary

Chetwynd House Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Chilwell, Nottingham. Featuring five beautifully designed care suites, exceptional facilities and lifestyle kitchens, we are passionate about delivering personalised care that promotes dignity, independence and wellbeing.

  • £12.85 per hour
  • Contracted to 19 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen team in delivering nutritious, varied and well-balanced meals that enhance residents' health and wellbeing. Working closely with the Chef Manager or Chef, you will help ensure meals are prepared, presented and served to a high standard while respecting residents' individual preferences and dietary requirements.

You will assist with food preparation, meal service and baking, while carrying out washing up, cleaning and stock rotation duties to keep the kitchen running efficiently. You will help receive and store deliveries, ensure kitchen equipment is clean and safe to use, and report any maintenance issues promptly.

Working as part of the wider team, you will maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and organisation while following Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures to provide a safe and welcoming dining experience for residents.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

What We Are Looking For
  • Previous catering or kitchen experience is essential; care home experience is desirable.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, stock control and stock rotation.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene, Health & Safety, COSHH and infection prevention procedures.
  • Ability to prepare food, support meal service and maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness.
  • Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A reliable, organised and practical approach with good attention to detail.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering an excellent dining experience for residents.
