Job description

Kitchen Assistant

Application Deadline: 30 September 2026

Department: Kitchen

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Skibo Castle, Highland

Reporting To: Executive Chef

Description

Our kitchens are at the heart of the member experience, with ingredient-led, seasonal menus showcasing exceptional produce from our own gardens, alongside locally sourced fish, shellfish and game. Working across two kitchen locations — one within the Castle and one in the Clubhouse — our teams operate in a supportive, professional and fast-paced environment.

From relaxed Brasserie-style dining to elegant fine dining, our culinary offering is varied, thoughtful and rooted in quality. We take pride in doing things properly, from baking our own bread and pastries and curing salmon in-house, to preparing dishes from scratch using the finest seasonal ingredients.

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting our chefs and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen. You will contribute to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness, organisation and food preparation that our members and guests expect, while working as part of a close-knit and professional team.

About The Role

As part of our team of Kitchen Assistants, you’ll play an essential part in the smooth running of our kitchens, supporting the chef teams and helping maintain the high standards our members expect.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the culinary team across both the Castle and Clubhouse kitchens.
  • Keeping kitchen areas clean, hygienic and well organised.
  • Operating dishwashers and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Receiving and storing food deliveries in line with food safety standards.
  • Assisting with basic food preparation, including vegetables and staff meals.
  • Maintaining CookSafe records and securing the kitchen at the end of shifts.
  • Supporting Food & Beverage colleagues by helping to maintain the staff dining area.
  • Follow all health & safety, COSHH, fire safety and company procedures at all times.

This is a hands‑on role where reliability, teamwork and pride in your work are key.

About You

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen or food preparation environment is welcomed, though not essential
  • A practical understanding of food hygiene, cleanliness and safe working practices (or a willingness to learn)

  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts in a fast‑paced kitchen setting

  • Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
