Job summary

RAFAKidz Nursery at RAF Benson in Wallingford is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join the busy catering team. You will assist the cook, help manage menus, prepare and serve meals, and ensure compliance with dietary requirements and safety policies.

The role requires a current Food Hygiene certificate; training can be provided for the right candidate. DBS checks are carried out on appointment and every three years.

Qualifications

• Current Food Hygiene certificate is a requirement for this role.
• DBS check is required on appointment and every three years thereafter.
• Willingness to training for ideal candidate.

Responsibilities

• Assist the cook in managing nursery kitchens and food policies.
• Organise, prepare and serve nursery meals according to menus and dietary needs.
• Demonstrate patience and encouragement with children and safeguard them by following policies.
• Ensure kitchen hygiene to Environmental Health standards and keep records up to date.

£13.21 per hour 16 hours per week

11am – 3pm Monday to Thursday

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant. As part of the busy catering team, we would love to welcome a new colleague who can bring creativity and imagination with an abundance of great ideas to enhance mealtimes.

The key responsibilities of the role include assisting the cook in the management of the nursery kitchens, food policies, organising, preparing, and serving nursery meals in accordance with the nursery menus and individual dietary requirements. You will be a good role model to the children, demonstrating patience and encouragement and take all the necessary steps to safeguard children by following policies and procedures in place. You will be required to work 4 hours a day Monday to Thursday. A current Food Hygiene certificate is a requirement for this role however we can provide training for the ideal candidate. Our Kitchen Assistants ensure hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen is of the highest standard in accordance with Environmental Health requirements and legislation. Excellent knowledge of current legislations in Environmental Health and Food Standards Agency would be highly desirable.
