Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Bedford is seeking a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join the Infrastructure & Drainage team and contribute to a range of development projects from concept through to detailed design.

You will gain hands-on experience with drainage design, layout planning, and technical drawings while developing skills in CAD and related design software. A 2:1 or above in Civil Engineering is required, with strong communication and a proactive attitude.

Qualifications

• BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering with a 2:1 or above.
• Interest in infrastructure design, especially drainage and development-related engineering.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn in a consultancy environment.
• Experience with CAD, Civils 3D or Microdrainage/Infodrainage is beneficial.
• Placement experience or internships in civil engineering design is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the design of infrastructure and drainage systems for development projects.
• Prepare technical drawings, calculations and design documentation.
• Support surface water drainage strategies and infrastructure layouts.
• Collaborate with engineers and other professionals to deliver high-quality design solutions.
• Develop technical knowledge and gain experience with relevant design software and industry standards.
