Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support Key Stage 4 students in a mainstream secondary college near Newton Abbot. You will work with teachers and support staff to help learners access lessons and build confidence.

Previous experience is not essential; graduates, youth workers, sports coaches or anyone with a genuine interest in working with young people are encouraged to apply. DBS and safeguarding checks will apply.

Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome challenges and succeed in education? Do you want to be part of a caring, supportive secondary school community where every student is valued? We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in Key Stage 4 in a mainstream secondary college. Working alongside teachers and fellow support staff colleagues, you will play a key role in helping students access learning, develop confidence, display positive learning behaviours and engage positively with school life.

Key Information
  • Pay: £14.25 - £16.50 p/h
  • Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (30 minute lunch break)
  • Start Date: As soon as possible (September 2026)
Your responsibilities will include
  • Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Promoting and encouraging positive learning behaviours
  • Assisting with classroom activities and learning tasks
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional development
  • Helping to create a calm, structured, and nurturing environment
About the School
  • This secondary college - near Newton Abbot - supports students aged 11-16 who have chosen courses linked to science mechanics and engineering.
  • Some pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) to provide additional funding for support to meet their needs.
  • The school prides itself on providing a safe, inclusive environment where students are supported to thrive both academically and personally.
