Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group in Uckfield is seeking a reliable Kerb Layer to join our civil engineering team. You will set out and install kerbs, prepare ground, and read drawings to ensure accurate placement on site.

The role requires experience as a Kerb Layer or Groundworker, good knowledge of line and gradient, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather. You’ll join a crew focused on quality and safety with timely project delivery.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Kerb Layer, Kerber or Groundworker.
• Ability to read basic construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience on highways, roads, housing or civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Set out and install concrete and stone kerbs, edgings and channels.
• Prepare and level ground and foundations prior to kerb installation.
• Lay kerbs accurately to line, level, gradient and specification.
• Mix and place concrete and other bedding materials as required.
• Use hand tools and small plant safely and effectively.
• Read and work from drawings, levels and site specifications.
• Carry out repairs, adjustments and finishing works where required.
• Work closely with groundworkers, machine operators and site supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.
• Follow all site health and safety requirements and procedures.
• Ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.

Desirable Qualifications

• CSCS Card.
• CPCS/NPORS tickets for relevant plant.
• Manual Handling and Health & Safety training.
