Job summary

Yelp is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer in the United Kingdom to help build and manage scalable, self-healing systems across distributed infrastructure. You will collaborate with product teams, write automation, and maintain critical services to keep Yelp fast and reliable for millions of users.

The role emphasizes infrastructure as code, monitoring, and on-call rotations with a distributed engineering culture.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Linux and willingness to learn more.
• Proficiency in Python, Ruby, Go, Java, or C++.
• Experience with datastore tech such as MySQL or Cassandra.
• Hands-on with public cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Practical background in Infrastructure as Code and Configuration Management.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with engineers to support new features and services.
• Build tools to monitor site stability and performance.
• Ensure reliability and scalability of infrastructure while meeting SLOs.
• Troubleshoot issues with Splunk, Prometheus and OpenTelemetry.
• Own and operate datastores like Cassandra and MySQL.
• Automate workflows with Python, Puppet, Git, Jenkins, Terraform.
• Develop custom tools when off-the-shelf solutions fail at scale.
• Participate in light on-call rotations across distributed teams.
