Junior Sous Chef

The Megaro Collection welcomes its newest addition, Voyage with Adam Simmonds. Our Scandinavian Fine Dining restaurant, located in the heart of Kings Cross, opened in January 2025. We invite all patrons to explore the culinary prowess of our Chef Patron, Adam Simmonds. We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic team member to join us on this new journey to excite and captivate with adventurous flavors and exceptional hospitality.

Voyage with Adam Simmonds aims to provide light, airy, and minimalistic plates with an ambiance that reflects and enhances these sentiments. Our goal is to create an open and welcoming environment where guests can experience fresh, modern dishes inspired by land, sea, and atmosphere.

Recognized as one of the nation's top chefs, double Michelin star Chef Simmonds designs his plates inspired by architecture, art, and nature. Drawing on his experience working under Raymond Blanc at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and techniques developed at his first Michelin-starred restaurant Ynshir Hall, Simmonds combines traditional techniques with avant-garde approaches, requiring meticulous attention to detail to inspire.

We are looking for an experienced Junior Sous Chef with a Michelin pedigree and a minimum of 3 years in high-end establishments to join Chef Adam Simmonds on this new adventure.

The ideal Junior Sous Chef will:

  • Have at least 1 year of experience in a Michelin-starred kitchen or 4AA establishment
  • Be genuinely passionate about hospitality
  • Have an interest in food development and exploring different culinary techniques
  • Have a stable career background
  • Be flexible with working schedules and tasks, supporting the Chef Patron as required
  • Be experienced in managing health and food safety due diligence
  • Be well-organized with a hardworking attitude
  • Possess a positive, 'can-do' attitude
  • Have a good command of the English language
  • Be comfortable working in an open-space kitchen and interacting with guests

The Junior Sous Chef will:

  • Ensure the smooth running of the back of house department
  • Support the Chef Patron in menu development
  • Maintain high standards of food quality and production
  • Control stock purchasing, receipt, storage, preparation, and service, ensuring quality, safety, and quantity
  • Manage food costs and optimize resources
  • Ensure the security of all foods, chemicals, and equipment according to health and safety policies, using Food Alert system (experience with this system is a plus)
  • Organize orders and staff rotas
  • Complete training and development, adhering to health and safety regulations
  • Work closely with the Chef Patron to ensure the restaurant's vision is realized
  • Maintain impeccable grooming standards and presentation
