Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group in London is seeking a Junior Setting Out Engineer to join our site delivery team. You will assist with setting out piling and foundations, learn Leica TS16 Total Stations and surveying software, and support engineers with as-built surveys and quality checks.

This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years’ setting out or surveying experience, eager to learn, develop skills, and progress within the piling and foundations sector. Full training and mentoring are provided.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of setting out, engineering, surveying or groundworks experience.
• Basic experience with Total Stations or GPS equipment is desirable.
• A keen interest in piling, foundations, concrete and civil engineering works.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with setting out of piling, foundations, ground beams and RC works.
• Learning to use Leica TS16 Total Stations, GPS equipment and surveying software.
• Supporting Senior Engineers with as-built surveys and quality checks.
• Carrying out formation surveys and recording site measurements.
• Assisting with pre-pour inspections and ensuring works are to design.
• Producing survey records and maintaining site documentation.

Our clien specialist geotechnical and foundation engineering contractor delivering complex piling, foundation, basement and retaining wall solutions across the commercial and residential sectors. Due to continued growth, we are looking for an ambitious Junior Setting Out Engineer to join our site delivery team.

This role is ideal for someone with 1-2 years' experience in setting out, engineering or surveying who is looking to develop their skills under experienced engineers and build a long-term career within the piling and foundations industry.

What You'll Be Doing

• Assisting with the setting out of piling, foundations, ground beams and reinforced concrete works.
• Learning to use Leica TS16 Total Stations, GPS equipment and surveying software.
• Supporting Senior Engineers with as-built surveys and quality assurance checks.
• Carrying out formation surveys and recording site measurements.
• Assisting with pre-pour inspections and ensuring works are constructed to design.
• Producing survey records and maintaining accurate site documentation.
• Interpreting engineering drawings and learning construction methodologies.
• Working closely with site teams, supervisors and project managers to ensure works are delivered safely and accurately.

What We're Looking For

• 1-2 years' experience in a setting out, engineering, surveying or groundworks environment.
• Basic experience using Total Stations or GPS equipment.
• A keen interest in piling, foundations, concrete and civil engineering works.
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude.
• Relevant construction qualification, HNC/HND, degree or engineering background desirable.
• CSCS card preferred.
