Job summary

National Gas is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join the West region hub. You will assist in commercial management, cost control, risk management, and supplier performance across a portfolio of infrastructure projects.

In this role, you’ll work closely with project managers and commercial colleagues, applying NEC3/NEC4 knowledge and using Excel to monitor expenditure, prepare reports, and support contract negotiations. A drive to develop in construction is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or working towards
• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts (Options A, C, and E)
• Strong communication, influencing, and negotiation skills
• Commercial awareness and understanding of supply chain management
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Full UK driving licence

Responsibilities

• Support commercial and contractual management of infrastructure projects
• Manage commercial activities on allocated contracts while contributing across a wider portfolio
• Monitoring project expenditure, validating payment applications, and preparing payment certificates
• Supporting risk management activities and maintaining project risk registers
• Producing commercial reports, meeting records, and supporting project documentation
• Assisting with tender evaluations, supplier engagement, and contract negotiations
• Supporting dispute resolution activities through the collation and review of commercial information
