Job summary

Ganymede Solutions is seeking a Commercial Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team in Surrey. This role focuses on the day‑to‑day commercial management of social housing works rather than a traditional site‑heavy QS position.

You will work with Schedule of Rates, assist with pricing, variations and applications, monitor subcontractor costs and maintain accurate trackers across live contracts while liaising with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Some experience with social housing, property maintenance, repairs, voids or planned works.
• Understanding of commercial processes behind project delivery.
• Experience with Schedule of Rates / SORs is useful.

Commercial Assistant / Junior Quantity Surveyor

Location:Surrey

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 depending on experience

Sector: Social Housing / Property Services

I'm working with an established property services contractor looking to add a Commercial Assistant, Junior Quantity Surveyor or Assistant QS to its commercial team.

This would suit somebody who already has some experience within social housing, property maintenance, repairs, voids or planned works and is looking to develop further within a commercial or quantity surveying career.

It isn't a traditional site heavy Quantity Surveyor position.

The role is much more focused on the commercial management of day to day housing works, including Schedule of Rates, pricing, variations, subcontractor costs, applications and maintaining accurate commercial information across live contracts.

As a Junior Commercial Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you'll work closely with both the commercial and operational teams, gaining exposure across the wider delivery process rather than sitting purely within an administrative function.

The key thing is having some relevant exposure to social housing, property maintenance, responsive repairs, voids or planned works and understanding the commercial processes that sit behind delivery.

Experience using Schedule of Rates / SORs would be particularly useful, as would exposure to subcontractor payments, valuations, applications, variations or commercial cost control.
