Job summary
Samuel Frank is seeking a Junior PLC Software Engineer in West Yorkshire to join an established engineering business. The role focuses on hands-on experience with live machinery, moving from commissioning to more programming-led development under an experienced team.
Typical duties include supporting automated machinery deployment, PLC software modification, fault-finding, and collaboration across office, shop floor and customer sites, with UK and overseas travel expected.
Qualifications
- Some experience of PLC programming, controls engineering or commissioning.
- Approximately 1–4 years industrial experience.
- Experience with Mitsubishi or Omron PLCs is useful.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites.
Responsibilities
- Supporting commissioning and development of automated machinery.
- Understanding, modifying and improving existing PLC software.
- Fault-finding across PLC-controlled machinery and electrical control systems.
- Working between the engineering office, shop floor and customer sites.
- Supporting installation and commissioning projects in the UK and overseas.
- Progressing into more advanced PLC programming and software development.
