Job summary

Dobbies Garden Centres Ltd is seeking a Junior Merchandiser to join the Buying & Merchandising team in Lasswade with hybrid working. You will plan stock, drive sales and margin, and lead Allocators while collaborating with the Buyer to shape seasonal ranges.

You will analyse sales, manage stock and orders, develop plans, and build strong relationships with suppliers. The role offers a dog-friendly Central Support Office and a supportive, team‑centred environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail merchandising, allocation or stock planning.
• Advanced Excel and confidence with Word/PowerPoint.
• Strong numeracy with commercial/financial awareness.
• Understanding of domestic and global supply chain processes.
• Excellent organisation, planning and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage several priorities against tight deadlines.
• Strong communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan stock ranges with the Buyer using historical data, trends and seasonal variations.
• Plan and manage stock, orders and OTB to hit sales and margins.
• Analyse sales and performance to spot opportunities and reduce risk.
• Develop and coach Allocators and maintain best-practice processes.
• Maintain buying calendar and critical path with the team.
• Build strong supplier relationships to resolve issues quickly.
• Visit stores to understand customers and support store teams.
• Support planograms and replenishment parameters with Space Planning.
