Job summary

John Lewis Partnership in London is seeking a Junior Merchandiser to plan and optimise the best range for customers within your category, under the guidance of the Merchandising Manager.

You will use analytical and commercial skills to forecast sales, stock and margins, lead in-season trading and manage Merchandising Assistants to ensure clear guidelines and strong supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Experience in Forecasting & Planning and WSSI management.
• Experience in BTA preparation, margin modelling and flow planning.
• Experience in merchandising practices, including assortment planning and stock management.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar analytical tools.
• Proficiency in reporting tools such as Business Intelligence, Tableau.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Understanding of retail operations and supply chain management.
• Proactive approach to learning and development.
• Collaboration and range planning alongside a buyer.

Responsibilities

• Plan and forecast sales, stock, profit and SKUs for your category with support from the L6 Merchandiser and Trade Planning team.
• Lead in-season trading to optimise range performance and customer outcomes.
• Manage stock flow and Open-To-Buy through Merchandising Assistants to maximise availability and minimise costs.
• Collaborate across teams (Buyer, Head of Merchandising, Supply Chain, Trading Operations) and with suppliers to drive assortments and lifecycle decisions.
• Forecast assortment Sales, Stock and Margin KPIs and set Open To Buy parameters.
• Work with Buying to determine season trading and volume decisions and supplier terms.
• Task manage Merchandising Assistants to ensure clear guidelines and accountability.
