Job summary

JD Sports is seeking a Junior Merchandiser to lead the team in delivering sales, markdown, stock intake and profit plans. You will work closely with the Merchandiser and Buyer to craft strategies, build range and space plans, and ensure stock is managed across the store network.

The role requires strong numerical skills, experience in merchandising and a proactive approach to improve store performance through analysis and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar merchandising role is essential (retail sector preferred).
• Highly numerate with a strong commercial focus.
• Experience in a sports/fashion retailer is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review Previous Seasons and produce SWOT analysis with supporting information.
• Create department strategy with Merchandiser and Buyer and present it to stakeholders.
• Create category level product mix using history, SWOT, and SMT plan.
• Plan space and grading for store distribution with Senior Merchandiser.
• Update the WSSI with the buy plan and KPIs signed off with the Senior Merchandiser.
• Attend key selection meetings with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer.
• Build the Range plan and layout plans with VM/buying teams.
• Manage stock seasonality and ensure effective intake and stock control.
• Lead weekly trading reviews and forecast actions with the Senior Merchandiser and Buyer.
• Develop OTBs, manage commitments and drive markdown proposals.
• Visit stores to understand performance and communicate actions to improve store results.
