Job summary

Net Zero People is seeking a Junior Field Service Engineer to join our field-based renewable energy team in the UK. This role offers hands-on ballast experience with solar PV systems and a clear path to develop specialist solar PV skills through on-the-job training.

You'll perform routine maintenance, fault-finding, and on-site installations while following safety standards. Full training and progression are provided to help you grow within the company.

Qualifications

• Must have electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience on LV AC/DC systems.
• Willingness to progress towards 17th/18th Edition BS7671 is required.
• Proficient reading of electrical schematics and SLDs preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office and CMMS reporting software.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out routine maintenance, testing, and fault-finding on solar PV systems
• Supporting planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance within your competencies
• Assisting with the installation of new solar and wind systems
• Reporting activities via our CMMS and keeping accurate maintenance records
• Coordinating with third-party contractors on site
• Working safely in line with industry best practice and site-specific risk assessments

We're looking for a motivated Junior Field Service Engineer to join our growing renewable energy team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an electrically-qualified engineer looking to move into solar, no solar experience necessary, just a solid electrical foundation and the drive to learn.

You'll be out on site maintaining ground-mounted solar PV systems, developing hands-on skills in an industry that's only going one way: up.

What you'll be doing:

• Carrying out routine maintenance, testing, and fault-finding on solar PV systems
• Supporting planned (PPM) and reactive maintenance within your competencies
• Assisting with the installation of new solar and wind systems
• Reporting activities via our CMMS and keeping accurate maintenance records
• Coordinating with third-party contractors on site
• Working safely in line with industry best practice and site-specific risk assessments

What we're looking for:

• Level 2 electrical qualification (City & Guilds, EAL, or equivalent)
• Working towards City & Guilds 17th/18th Edition BS7671 Wiring Regs
• Substation awareness training (or willingness to obtain)
• Full clean UK manual driving licence
• 2+ years' experience in electrical maintenance and fault-finding on LV AC/DC systems
• Comfortable reading SLDs and technical schematics
• Confident with Microsoft Office and reporting/CMMS software
• Full training and support to build specialist solar PV skills
• Genuine progression path within a growing renewable energy business
• Varied, hands-on fieldwork — no two days the same
