Junior Field Service Engineer
Location: UK based
Salary: £35,000
Company benefits: Company van and then a car
This role is suitable for an individual with a solid academic background in mechatronics, technology, or electrics, preferably with an apprenticeship in the industrial sector. The candidate should have 1-2 years of experience working across various industrial sectors, ideally in Robotics and/or CNC automation. Availability to travel extensively, including outside the UK for training, is required.
Qualifications highly considered include NVQ technological subjects, HNC, and key areas of responsibility include:
- Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical breakdowns
- Customer-facing skills, remaining calm and resolving challenges amicably in line with company policy
- Advising the help desk on breakdown issues
- Communicating and liaising with the business to support all products
- Providing solutions through ownership and proactive support
- Attending site visits across the country at short notice to resolve customer issues
- Understanding and demonstrating CNC equipment functionality
- Supporting technical and sales activities
- Commissioning, training, and installation of equipment
- Electrical and mechanical breakdowns
- Driving change using historical and acquired knowledge
- Documentation and procedural compliance
- Understanding engineering activities including service work, preventative maintenance, installation, and commissioning of capital equipment (preferably CNC machines)
- Supporting customers and helpdesk on technical issues
- Interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting
- Conducting site surveys and customer training
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM, PLC, and CNC systems
- Attending training courses and ensuring work standards are met within timeframes
- Providing technical advice and troubleshooting
- Taking ownership of site work with flexibility to meet customer needs
- Preparing and submitting paperwork such as timesheets and expenses
